Project Manager 2004-2008

Project Manager/Business Analyst Accomplishments:

Ø Spearheaded the development of the first CGA-Canada Project Management Office, creating a formal project management methodology for the organization, and providing ongoing education to CGA-C staff, resulting in an increase in the number of successful IT projects and increased respect for the IT group as a business partner.

Ø Improved the quality of key business data by bringing together business and technical staff from the national and regional offices to implement a robust data transfer system for the daily collection of high-quality standardized data from the regional offices to support the goals of the CGA Association. This project had been attempted several times in the proceeding 15 years without success, and resulted in increased trust in the data by business users to make business decisions. Once this data became trusted, I provided business decision makers with access to current financial and student/member demographic data through a business intelligence platform, resulting in a single and trusted source of data for this group.

Ø Developed the first website to provide online resources for 3000 CGA Public Practitioner subscribers through the launch of the Public Practice Manual Online website. Subscribers access customizable checklists and templates to support their practices, and timely information about changing accounting standards. The system contained advanced search functionality through the use of metadata, and complex processes for content development, conversion and publishing.

Ø Created Need an Accountant, the first online searchable National Registry of CGA Firms. The public can find firms matching their accounting needs, and firms can purchase an enhanced web page to increase their public exposure. A mobile app was also launched, the first app of its kind for accountants, for Apple and Android platforms.

Ø Deployed the first CGA-Canada Employee-centric intranet that allowedemployees to personalize and manage site content, and use blogs, wikis, discussion boards, and other collaboration tools. The site became the ‘go-to’ place to access current company policies and forms, increased the speed of employee on-boarding, became the historical repository of all important company communications, and contained a dynamic organizational chart, synchronized from the corporate Active Directory.

Ø Launched an online self-assessment tool for Foreign Trained Accountants to receive informal assessments of their existing qualifications, evaluated against the criteria required for CGA qualification, and to guide them to the appropriate region for further assessment. This site promoted the CGA Designation Internationally, and helped the regions standardize and streamline their evaluation processes

Ø Provided enhanced marketing tools to the PD Net website marketing team, enabling this group to sell video and webcast products, with product discounting, bundling and coupon codes, and to segment and personalize marketing communications (MailChimp) with the member base, using purchase behavior and demographics.

Ø Provided a competency management system to the Curriculum and Exams Development Groups to help them ensure that the CGA program met or exceeded the required proficiency levels for each competency.

Ø Delivered systems to process, capture, reconcile and manage student and member demographic and course enrollment information received daily from the regions, the transfer enrollment data to online delivery systems (BlackBoard, D2L), and the marking and reconciliation of exams.

Ø Created the Affiliate Transfer System, a web-based workflow system used by all regional offices to facilitate the transfer of students between offices, eliminating manual processes, reducing paper and time, and improving data accuracy.

Ø Developed/configured workflow systems for 5 different departments to handle the increasing numbers of work requests from internal and external clients. These systems captured all steps from request initiation through to completion, with status reports providing transparency for managers and administrators, statistics to support continuous improvement and led to improved productivity, elimination of paper-based systems, and improved client service.

Early Career Experience (contracting) 1988 – 2004

Ø Managed development of the website that cost-effectively supported traffic of over 3 million job-searching visitors per month, with 99.8% uptime.

Ø Implementation and support of Sales Order System for International Sales Reps in the Swimwear Fashion Industry.
