Powell River Free-at-55 Travel Club

NEXT MEETINGS:

Tales from an Adventure Family

Time: Saturday, January 26, 2019, at 19:00 to 22:00colosseum
Place: Powell River (RSVP for address)

Matt & Frances Van Tol decided to live with a little less so that they and their young family could do a lot more.  In October 2016, they purchased a sailboat in the Caribbean and sailed for 8 beautiful months. After selling the boat, they took off the Europe with a caravan and toured around for 4 months.  As of last February, they have settled in Powell River.  Their story was featured in the “I Made the Move” feature on page 17 of Sept.2019 Powell River Living.

At January’s meetup, they’ll be doing a short presentation of some unusual highlights of their year, as well as some inspiration on living with less to travel more.  The children some of us have are a bit older than theirs, but perhaps we can inspire our kids to take their kids on an adventure.

And of course, the usual laughter, nibbles, and good conversation.

To receive directions to Cindy & Andre’s Cranberry home, please RSVP:  (See below.)

We have an interesting April presentation from another local couple lined up, and will confirm the details in early April. The picture (courtesy of https://playingforchange.com/) provides a very subtle clue.

Topics we hope to address include adventure travel, Airbnb, agriturismo, birdwatching tours, blogging, canal boats, cheap travel, choral holidays, cooking holidays, Couchsurfing, culture travel, cycle tours, Earthwatch, exotic road trips, genealogy travel, home exchanges, hostels, housesitting, intentional communities, language-learning holidays, living overseas, low cost travel, organizing group travel, packing light, photography tours, repositioning cruises, safaris, sailing excursions, senior nomads, solo women travelers, snorkel trips, Servas Open Doors, small group tours, teaching English, train journeys, travel fitness, travel medical, trekking, villas, walking tours, yoga retreats, and whatever else interests members.

We plan initially to meet in small informal groups in organizers’ and members’ homes. As membership grows, we may hold larger events in public venues.
